Ice Dam Repair

Typical slate roof damage caused by ice dams and inexperienced gutter installers.

Gutter hangers nailed directly through the slate. Slate broken from installers driving slate nails too tight. Improperly sized slate ( too short ) allow water to soak into the roof between slates.

- Roof is cleaned of debris.
- Damaged roof boards are repaired or replaced.
- Ice and water shield membrane is applied.
- Copper drip edge is installed.
- Existing gutter hangers are re installed.
- On this particular house additional gutter hangers to match the original half round gutters were also installed in the event the homeowner decided to replace the aluminum box gutters at a later date. Or in case future snow slides damaged the gutters. The aluminum box gutters were replaced the following year when damaged by sliding snow.
- The slate is re installed. Broken / damaged slate is replaced with closely matching salvaged slate.
