Gutter hangers nailed directly through the slate.  Slate broken from installers driving slate nails too tight. Improperly sized slate ( too short ) allow water to soak into the roof between slates.

  • Roof is cleaned of debris.
  • Damaged roof boards are repaired or replaced.
  • Ice and water shield membrane is applied.
  • Copper drip edge is installed.
  • Existing gutter hangers are re installed.
  • On this particular house additional gutter hangers to match the original half round gutters were also installed in the event the homeowner decided to replace the aluminum box gutters at a later date. Or in case future snow slides damaged the gutters. The aluminum box gutters were replaced the following year when damaged by sliding snow.
  • The slate is re installed. Broken / damaged slate is replaced with closely matching salvaged slate.
